Lori
Walton is a veteran of many aspects of the horse business. She had been a breeder, trainer, judge,
clinician, and equine photographer. In
2004, she was recognized by the AQHA as being a breeder of quarter horses for
over 20 years. She has trained horses
and people for a variety of disciplines, including ranch versatility, western pleasure, horsemanship, hunter under saddle, hunt seat equitation, showmanship, trail, reining, and barrel racing.
Lori started out showing in pony lead line classes when she was 3 years old and worked her way up to trainer, youth coach, and judge by the time she was 22. Today Lori is a carded judge with over 25 years of experience. She judges horse shows as well as ranch versatility, judging the National Versatility Ranch Horse Association National Championship Show the first time in 2010 and again in 2013 Lori is also an approved judge for the Pony of the Americas Club, American Stock Horse Association, Western States Versatility Ranch Horse Association, National Reined Cow Horse Association, and is a AQHA Ranch Versatility Specialty judge.
Although specialization is the trend of today in the show ring, Lori believes that a horse with a solid foundation should be able to do more than one discipline. This is one of reasons she is focused today on ranch versatility. Lori has first hand experience in practical ranch work. She understands the value of good, solid, well broke horse that can accomplish the demands of a working ranch and the modern day cowboy. She values the dependability and versatility of these horses and the work they perform, such as roping, cutting, herding, driving, and gathering livestock on the open range and working in corrals.
Lori has been hired to give clinics, seminars and presentations at several equine expos, including Equine Affaire (Pomona, California and Columbus, Ohio), Equifest of Kansas, Northern International Livestock Exposition, and Horse World Expo of Maryland. In addition, she is an equine photographer whose expertise as a professional horsewoman gives her insight in capturing the right shot.
